Empresa saludable

We empower our more than 300,000 colleagues and
lead with integrity in every aspect of business.

Our greatest strength is our people: a talented and diverse workforce of more than 300,000 colleagues who are committed to simplifying health care and earning trust with our customers, members and patients. We empower them to do this work and grow their careers by making sure they have the education, leadership development and workforce training they need. We are dedicated to our colleagues today and for the future: We are building talent pipelines and ensuring that we conduct our business ethically and responsibly across the enterprise. The work we do to support every person we serve begins with the work we do to support our colleagues.

As a pharmacy district leader,
I support 20 stores in Metro Boston.

Seeing someone like Alex be so successful so quickly,
in community pharmacy,
is very rewarding for all of our faculty.

I think truthfully, the things that I want to teach my interns are
to be patient-centered,
to give great customer service,
to be professional and to be kind.

So that and that match.
That way you know where to put it back on the shelf.

Janki is a sixth year intern in my district.
She's genuine,
hard working.
She really engages the team.
Janki is what a great intern looks like.

I think the internship is very demanding
and it's also very rewarding.

So it protects against tetanus,
and it's given every ten years.

CVS Health
wants to give back to our interns.
The PharmD Tuition Assistance Program is a benefit
that students are eligible for in their last two years of pharmacy school.
That can provide tuition assistance up to $20,000
for our students, making pharmacy school much more affordable.

Zilong is my Pharmacy Manager in Chinatown.
And I've been lucky enough to see him go from Technician
to Intern to Grad Intern to Staff Pharmacist,
and now see him run that same store as a Pharmacy Manager.

I'm 29 years old.
I was the first college student in my family.

Zilong and almost his entire team speak multiple languages,
both Mandarin and Cantonese.
So they're able to serve a population
that ultimately, without that store, would be underserved.

When I was in college in freshman year,
I was looking for a pharmacy internship.
I discovered that CVS is a company
that has such strong and high reputations.
Its commitment to driving patient care
and improving patient outcomes really interests me a lot.
I want to be part of something
that I can really make a difference.

This patient is due for Hepatitis B, right.

While you're working,
you're learning about the medications
that you're dispensing to your patients.
You're learning from the pharmacist
that you're working with how to counsel patients.
You're learning how to handle difficult conversations.
You're seeing how your pharmacists
talk to other healthcare providers.

An internship also helps prepare you for the boards.
When I got my license as a pharmacist,
I already knew what I was doing.
And I'm feeling so comfortable and confident
that I can do this job properly.

Intern by intern,
we're not only building the future of pharmacy,
but we're giving these talented young people
careers they can really be proud of.

Por ejemplo,
this patient is due for Hepatitis B, right.

I was the first college student in my family.
I'm 29 years old.
Yeah.

I had so many great mentors
and role models along the way
in my journey that I feel very lucky
to be able to pay it forward.

Hi, I'm calling from CVS pharmacy.
Returning a message.
Is this Elizabeth?

Oh, can I just confirm
your date of birth first?
Okay. Perfect.

Are you looking for another refill? Okay.
And you said the doctor responded.

Okay.
Let me double check in one second.
Okay.

I'm still getting a rejection.
It's the same as the one
I got yesterday when I spoke to you.
It's a supply limitation exceedance.
So they still have to work on a prior authorization
with their insurance.

Correct, correct.

I'm assuming to.
Right.
So it doesn't need to start today.

All right.
Let's go.
Come on, Janky, I’ll show you the room.
You are in.

Am I supposed to be shy or just like—
Well, if it’s day one internship, let’s pretend that.

Okay, so this is an NDC.
So you're going to check that and that.

This is another strength,
different number.

We'll continue on here.
Okay, okay.

So that and that match.
That way you know where to put it back on the shelf.
And so on and so forth.

Yeah, maybe just walk around and follow.
He’s going to lead you, okay.

So actually, can we start all the way down?
Yeah, and then we’ll go into the other aisle.

Okay, you’re now back this way.

Hey Alex,
could you walk around the other side?

You guys walk down together.
The first one toward the pharmacy.

Not very good.
Go, go.
Actually, go around, sorry.

Yeah, just come down.
I’ll come down this aisle.

My bad—like I know—just go around.
Come back this way.

Right.
Sure. It’s perfect.

And action.

Great.
Gracias.

Alex, did you get enough of the shot?
No, we should—
I’ll have you come with Martin.

Yeah, I’m doing the script.

Okay.

I want to thank you.
And you can just talk—pretend you’re doing it.

Gracias.

I had so many great mentors
and role models along the way.

Do you speak much English?
A little bit.

Do you like that he speaks Cantonese with you?
Is it helpful?
Yeah, very good.

Speaking Cantonese is good.
Very good.

Thank you so much.
You’re welcome.
Have a great day.
Bye-bye.

It’s good
because I can communicate better.
Thank you. Thank you so much.

Investing in our colleagues to deliver success

Every colleague's journey is different. Our enterprise-wide capabilities allow us to offer integrated support that helps colleagues maintain their health, manage challenges and plan for long-term stability. By making care and support easy to access in ways that fit into everyday life, we help colleagues feel supported now and well positioned for what's ahead.

Beneficios centrados en la salud integral

We provide benefits for colleagues so they and their families can live full and healthy lives, offering a wide range of no-cost wellness program resources for all colleagues, regardless of whether they're enrolled in a medical plan. These include confidential counseling sessions, health screenings, flu shots, stress and anxiety management, tobacco cessation and weight management programs, all available from the first day of employment.

In 2025 we successfully made preventive care our top goal for wellness, taking key steps in optimizing our colleague's physical health. By identifying risks earlier, colleagues can make informed decisions about managing physical health early on. Our preventive care completion rates have improved by over 170% since January 2025.

Championing emotional and mental health

We offer comprehensive benefits to support the mental well-being of our colleagues. Twenty no-cost confidential counseling sessions are available through our employee assistance program, Resources for Living, to every colleague, their household members and their dependents living away from home up to age 26. Other offerings include:

  • Talkspace, a virtual chat counseling platform and on-demand self-help resources to help colleagues better manage stress and build resiliency.
  • Stamp Out Stigma and Faces of Mental Health programs to provide colleagues a forum to share their personal emotional health journeys and create a stigma-free culture around mental well-being.
  • Regular, voluntary clinician-led virtual trainings, "Supporting Mental Health in the Workplace," to reduce stigma, cultivate compassion and open conversations about mental health. A tailored leader version is embedded in the onboarding experience for new leaders.
  • Colleague-led “Let’s Have a Conversation” series to give colleagues a platform to share their experience with mental health conditions and substance use disorders.
  • Our comprehensive “Are you okay?” campaign, including home mailings, intranet articles, digital screens and posters, to raise awareness and utilization of our mental health resources, including Resources for Living.
  • We equip and support leaders to champion emotional and mental health and host regular webinar trainings to learn about mental health, how to have open conversations and support colleagues in their times of need.

We foster a culture where colleagues feel safe, supported and empowered to prioritize their mental well-being. This commitment is reinforced through the Mental Well-being Colleague Resource Group, which offers colleague-led programs focused on building psychological safety and supporting holistic well-being. We also have more than 700 colleague volunteers who serve as Well-being Champions, helping share information about benefits, programs and resources available and extending support across the organization.

With more than 300,000 colleagues, no two needs are alike. Our uniqueness is our strength - enabling us to use the full power of CVS Health to provide no-cost access to preventive care and resources to support physical, emotional and financial wellness. By meeting our colleagues where they are, we give them the support they need to thrive today and build a healthier tomorrow.

Colleagues supporting colleagues through the Employee Relief Fund

Our Employee Relief Fund is one of the ways we show up for each other, offering financial support to colleagues facing tough moments, like a natural disaster, medical emergency or the loss of a loved one. The CVS Health Employee Relief Fund (ERF), a 501c3 funded in part by colleague donations, is there to help when life takes an unexpected turn.

We’ve worked with our CVS Pharmacy colleagues to build a culture where everyone can thrive — one that results in higher job satisfaction, a shared sense of purpose, a workplace where colleagues feel valued, safe and included and one that provides career paths and a strong future at CVS Health.

Colleagues are reporting improved experience year-over-year and retention has improved dramatically across our pharmacy and consumer wellness organization.

Our commitment to a secure workplace

We use best-in-class technology to create a centralized place for data gathering, analysis and reporting insights for data-driven decision making and accelerated progress.

Our occupational health and safety (OHS) program is applicable to all our operations, including colleagues, as well as clients, contractors, suppliers and other visitors to our facilities.

Workplace safety in retail stores

We drive a strong safety culture across our front store and pharmacy through safety-focused trainings, direct colleague messaging, monthly safety tips and quarterly newsletters. This includes implementing a Just Culture framework, which emphasizes learning and accountability by encouraging colleagues to speak up about safety concerns without fear of blame, while still addressing unsafe actions appropriately. A new centralized resource hub further supports this effort by providing proactive and timely messaging on key health and safety topics, including seasonal issues and trends.

Preventing needlestick injuries in retail locations

CVS Pharmacy® and MinuteClinic® colleagues work with needles in many different settings and may be exposed to injury during their use. In addition to supporting colleagues when an injury occurs, we have focused on how to prevent needlestick injuries before they happen. We are actively working with sharp disposal containers and needle manufacturers to further improve safety features, and identifying how we can leverage this new container beyond existing immunization rooms.

We emphasize reducing risk at its source - eliminating or engineering programs that address hazards wherever possible. We encourage a culture where potential safety concerns are identified early, allowing us to act before an injury occurs. By proactively analyzing near-miss events, we're able to uncover systemic opportunities for hazard elimination or isolation. As near-miss reporting has increased, we have seen a decline in injuries across our distribution centers, reinforcing the value of addressing risks through higher-level controls.

Programa de prevención de golpes de calor

Our heat illness prevention program applies to the enterprise and includes response procedures for indoor and outdoor workspaces. We monitor high heat events and conditions and proactively educate field leaders and colleagues on heat illness prevention.

Seguridad empresarial

Our enterprise security organization works to protect the safety of all CVS Health colleagues through a risk-based approach focused on mitigating threats. The team supports retail and non-retail settings with physical security solutions, training to broaden colleague awareness of risks and investigations into incidents that may threaten the safety or security of colleagues.

Time delay safes are in all of our CVS Pharmacy locations. This technology helps prevent pharmacy robberies and has been deployed to the front store in more than 2,100 locations.

We prioritize the safety of our colleagues and patients over products. By training more than 125,000 colleagues in de-escalation techniques, we've seen an 11% decrease in colleague physical assaults.

To keep employees safe across all of our CVS Health locations, we've increased non-retail security audits by 8%. And we have nearly 1,500 active Emergency Response Team (ERT) members. ERT members are trained and certified in the Basic Life Safety skills of First Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed and Bloodborne Pathogens.

Building an inclusive workplace

We work to foster a thriving culture where every colleague, regardless of background or experience, feels valued, empowered and supported to contribute their unique perspectives. The collective power of our inclusive and engaged workforce fuels innovation and drives meaningful results for the broad and diverse communities we serve.

Respect is the cornerstone of our culture and a direct reflection of our values. We embrace the varied experiences and perspectives our colleagues bring and remain committed to sustaining an inclusive and engaged workforce.

CRGs are open to all colleagues and provide opportunities to connect, network, volunteer and drive business value.

Accessibility and disability inclusion

We partner with Disability:IN, a leading nonprofit resource for business disability inclusion, to advance disability inclusion in the workplace. Driven by our CapAbilities CRG, CVS Health teams and leaders participate in Disability:IN initiatives and working groups focused on leadership development, talent acquisition, CRG best practices, mentorship and education on disability inclusion.

In 2025, we joined The Access Coalition to help break down barriers to accessing care. Together with industry leaders at the Coalition, we're creating more accessible and inclusive retail spaces.

Meaningful employment for Veterans and Military spouses

Employment provides economic stability, but purpose and connection are essential for veterans and military spouses as they transition to civilian life. As a purpose driven health care company, we create pathways to employment that offer more than a job: connecting veterans and transitioning service members to meaningful work, supportive communities, and opportunities to continue serving others. Through collaboration with the Travis Manion Foundation, Team RWB, and Soldiers to Sidelines, we help foster belonging and renewed purpose during and after the transition from military service.

Through our supplier engagement program, we are also advancing veteran and military spouse entrepreneurship through the Military Spouse Chamber of Commerce, NaVOBA, NVBDC, and The Rosie Network.

Since 2016, we’ve hired more than 27,000 veterans and 19,000 military spouses.

Serving local communities

We tailor our products and services to meet the needs of the communities we serve. From bilingual pharmacists to the products we stock, we're focused on the needs and preferences of our customers and patients.

Driving career advancement through learning and development

We provide training, learning and development for our over 300,000 colleagues each year, totaling approximately 16 million in training hours in 2025 alone. We have also developed customized programming to support our hiring and onboarding of more than 150,000 colleagues annually - in all parts of our business and for colleagues in all stages of their careers.

Learn Rx: CVS Pharmacy technician training

Each year, we hire more than 30,000 new pharmacy technicians who, together with existing pharmacy staff, collectively fill more than 1.8 billion patient prescriptions across approximately 9,000 CVS Pharmacy® locations. In 2025, technicians rated the training program with an eNPS of over 77 percent, which considerably enhanced attraction to the role due to the excellent experience we provide the newly hired talent.

Learn front store: supporting new front store colleagues

The redesigned program has driven high Net Promoter Scores for new front store colleagues, as well as significant reductions in colleague turnover.

Continuous learning advances careers

As these technologies evolve, so do questions about how they are used and the skills needed to apply them responsibly. In support of our ambition to be America's most trusted health care company, we offer a self-service Continuous Learning Academy that helps colleagues build confidence, understanding and practical skills to use emerging technologies thoughtfully and effectively.

Through our DevelopU online platform, colleagues have access to virtual instructor-led and self-study courses that focus on key professional skills and behaviors essential for building a successful career at CVS Health.

Developing careers through mentorship

At CVS Health, we believe mentoring is a highly impactful way for colleagues to learn from one another and grow in their careers. Our Enterprise Mentoring Program empowers colleagues to develop their skills and build new connections while gaining exposure to diverse career paths, opportunities and information across our integrated businesses. We consider mentoring to be a key component of their professional development plan.

Developing leadership for emerging talent

Rotational opportunities are designed to support career growth of recent graduates through meaningful assignments and on-the-job experience, mentorship and networking opportunities and exposure to multiple departments and business units. Each year, we hire over 100 new colleagues through these programs, including in finance, management, human resources, innovation and technology, actuary, underwriting, sales and more.

Helping colleagues work smarter with AI

AI is powering a new era of innovation and productivity, transforming how organizations move from strategy to action. We're making sure our colleagues are ready to lead the way.

Across CVS Health, AI is simplifying work in powerful ways. When colleagues have access to intuitive workflows, faster support and tools that help them do their jobs, they can spend more time focusing on what matters most.

  • In 2025, our internal AI-powered digital assistant has surpassed one million conversations, helping colleagues get answers quickly and automate routine tasks.
  • Microsoft Copilot Chat is now available to all colleagues, giving everyone access to everyday efficiency gains.
  • Aetna’s new digital tools, including AI-driven clinical care summaries, give Aetna nurses more time – as much as 90 minutes per day, or a full day per week – to engage and support members.
  • Signify Health launched a new bot that uses in-home health evaluation data to draft case management referral notes, resulting in a 20% reduction in the time a clinical services coordinator spends processing referrals.
  • We’re simplifying the process of prior authorization, putting technology to work by bundling multiple authorization requests into one up-front approval. At Aetna, more than 95% of eligible prior authorizations are approved within 24 hours, with some completed in just a few hours. In addition, 90% of CVS Caremark eligible prior authorizations are approved within 24 hours.
  • By using tools like conversational AI and other automation technologies to streamline routine tasks, we’ve refocused more than 1 million pharmacist hours annually back to patient care and connection.

We recognize that AI has the power to revolutionize health care and we also understand the importance of using AI responsibly in everything we do. As AI continues to evolve, we are committed to doing our part to ensure it's used safely, compliantly, responsibly and ethically.

Our approach to building a talent pipeline

University relations and partnerships

In 2025, we hired more than 1,000 pharmacy graduates, over 100 corporate colleagues and over 30 retail colleagues from our pool of former interns.

We also pair hundreds of students with CVS Health® colleagues through virtual mentorships, supporting our work to build a strong talent pipeline for future internships.

Experiencia en contratación de neurodiversidad

In 2025, we expanded the neurodiversity hiring experience to include emerging talent within our intern programs. In collaboration with our CapAbilities Colleague Resource Group, Learning Hub microtrainings and other training sessions, we trained approximately 5,200 colleagues.

Cultivating the next generation of clinicians

To support the next generation of students with the financial assistance and hands-on experience necessary to further their careers:

  • We offer an enhanced Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) tuition assistance program for eligible CVS Pharmacy® interns with up to $20,000 toward qualifying tuition expenses during each of their final two years of their program. In 2025, more than 700 participants have participated and collective received more than $10 million in tuition assistance.
  • CVS Pharmacy colleagues can pursue a PharmD degree through Duquesne University at a reduced cost (50%). The online program offers accessibility and flexibility, so students can continue to work and care for their communities at the pharmacy.
  • Our MinuteClinic® nurse practitioners help train nurses who are working toward their master's or doctorate degree in nursing through our Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) student preceptor program. Students work alongside our NPs as part of their clinical rotation hours and we identify high-potential candidates to fill positions within MinuteClinic after graduation.
  • In 2025, Aetna Medicaid began a collaboration con National Alliance for Care at Home (the Alliance) y MissionCare Collective. This collaboration aims to expand workforce capacity and improve retention, ensuring older adults and individuals with disabilities have reliable access to high-quality care in the setting they prefer — their home.
  • We also support clinical rotations for RN to BSNs (Registered Nurses pursuing Bachelor of Science in Nursing) in Coram and Aetna.

Hacemos negocios de manera ética y responsable

At CVS Health®, we are committed to doing what is right in every situation and upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

CVS Health is committed to earning trust through ethical behavior, integrity, and accountability. Our Compliance Program supports that commitment across the enterprise by setting clear expectations, providing actionable guidance and creating safe ways to speak up when compliance and ethics concerns arise. Our Program is continuously evolving to align with our business growth strategy, adapt to regulatory changes, respond to external trends, and incorporate best practices. Together, we strive to create an environment where integrity and ethical behavior is at the forefront of everything we do.

Integridad de los productos

All our store brand products are tested by third-party testing partners, UL and Bureau Veritas, prior to and at the initial distribution to CVS Pharmacy® stores. Store brand products are then tested annually to ensure they comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, supplier provided specifications and any specific requirements.

In 2025, we increased the number of beauty and acne care supplements that fall under the program's requirements, bringing the total number of items in the program to nearly 2,300.

Compromiso con los proveedores

At CVS Health, we recognize the value of including emerging and small businesses in our supply chain.

CVS Health invested $4.6 billion in small businesses across the U.S. in 2025. Suppliers interested in having their business o product considered for opportunities with CVS Health can contáctenos.

Responsible AI, built on trust

Artificial intelligence has the potential to transform how health care is delivered, how people experience care and how they live healthier lives. As AI continues to evolve, CVS Health is committed to doing its part to ensure it's used safely, responsibly and ethically.

Our approach to AI is grounded in transparency and human oversight. We're clear about what AI does - and doesn't do - keeping clinicians as decision-makers, requiring human review for AI-driven recommendations and preserving human connection.

We continue to strengthen our responsible AI practices through clear governance, transparent processes and proactive safeguards. These efforts are supported by a robust Information Security program - led by our Chief Information Security Officer - that emphasizes strong foundational controls, risk-based prioritization, continuous monitoring and well-defined incident response to help protect data and maintain trust.

And our commitment extends beyond our own walls. We've developed and open-sourced tools to help detect generative AI bias and hallucination risks that have been adopted across technology, consulting, financial services and academic sectors. We've also shared our work in leading AI research journals - including Transactions on Machine Learning Research, Journal of Machine Learning Research y Journal of Open Source Software — and presented at top conferences, because raising the bar for responsible AI is a shared responsibility and essential to building long-term trust in health care innovation.

Safeguarding data and investing in cybersecurity

Under the leadership of our Chief Privacy Officer, we regularly monitor and assess compliance with global data privacy regulatory requirements, identify and mitigate privacy risk, provide privacy training across the enterprise and partner with business areas to integrate privacy into the design and development of systems, processes, products and services.

Our Information Security program, led by our Chief Information Security Officer, takes a comprehensive approach to cybersecurity and data privacy to protect our company, customers and colleagues. This includes strong foundational controls, risk-based prioritization, ongoing monitoring and testing, well-defined incident response plans, adherence to regulatory requirements and continuous improvement.

We make significant investments in our cybersecurity program, modernizing our capabilities and accelerating our ability to adapt to a changing cyber landscape. Our team of cybersecurity experts uses comprehensive defensive controls and advanced protection technologies to identify, detect and respond to cyber threats. We also maintain an Incident Response Plan and regularly conduct simulated exercises to test our response to different types of attacks.

Our robust cybersecurity program is aligned with the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) Cyber Security Framework as the foundation for managing cybersecurity risk and enabling business resiliency. We continuously monitor our third parties' ability to deliver services securely and meet CVS Health's security standards and we are building zero trust principles into our operating models.

We collaborate across the health care, retail and financial services sectors through participation in Information Sharing and Analysis Centers (ISACs) that allow us to collaborate with both corporate and government entities to create a stronger joint defense.

We continue to build digital trust into our omnichannel customer experiences through integrated data security and privacy safeguards. We align with privacy and security laws and industry best practices to safeguard the security, confidentiality and integrity of personal information we receive and perform regular assessments to review and test our processes.

All colleagues are required to complete security and privacy training annually. Beyond training, we engage employees through awareness campaigns, gamified activities, recognition programs, security presentations, ongoing communications and simulation exercises to reinforce cybersecurity best practices.

Alongside these efforts, we are also working to develop the next generation of cyber professionals through our emerging talent programs to ensure we have the talent and expertise we need to maintain our Information Security program.

Engaging in the policymaking process in the communities we serve and at the federal and state level helps us improve access to care, lower costs and remain a trusted health partner for our clients and customers.
